Yesterday was a good day… Because yesterday was the latest South Mimms Honda meet – and the turnout was superb!
I intended to meet up with the HC MK lot but as I was short on time in the afternoon I met them at the Toddington services and jumped on the M1 convoy. In fact I turned up and then led them away from the service station. Being as we all drive fairly nippy and high revving Hondas I assumed that driving at 70mph wouldnt be a problem, even for the lowly EJ9s
… but I soon lost them! I spent the rest of the journey looking in my mirrors in the hope that some of those that had never been to South Mimms before wouldnt get lost.

M1 Convoy meeting at Toddington services...
I even experienced the shame of being passed by a lorry on the slip road to the M25 when I slowed right down in the hope that people would catch up. Only Tommy in his new (and lovely) DC5 and another chap (whos name I didnt get) in his blue EK4 managed to stay with me.
I thought we would be among the 1st to arrive at mimms but when we pulled in there was already 50+ cars waiting for us!

The scene at around 6:30pm
As usual we met up with a ton of regulars, and met lots of newer members of Civiclife which is always good. Most of the time I dont remember peoples cars so I know I have seen a car before, but have no idea who owns it!
As the evening progressed the car park was stacked! The South Mimms management were great, who came out and told us that they were not expecting us but didnt have a problem with us as they could tell we were very laid back. The police also said the same thing after a couple of chavvy cocks in Fiesta’s (with bad boy bonnets!) decided to drive through the masses of Hondas revving and wheelspinning… cocks… I’m glad that 99.9% of the crowd were well behaved (as always) with just one guy in a coupe cranking his (shit) music right up – I think it was the same guy who almost got us kicked out of the Ace Cafe…
The only real down point of the night was the small crash involving a guy who tried to start his car while it was in gear with no handbrake on from outside his car. It rolled across the car park and in his desperate efforts to stop the car the owner dented a mint EK4 before his car ploughed into Ross’s coupe. Was a real shame but the EG was shagged while the other cars were ok-ish. At least the owner of the EG is forking out for repairs on the other cars.

Lots of people taking photos this time
As the night went on I checked out some of the nicer cars on offer and was suitably impressed by the quality. I was also dead impressed with the number of new cars that I hadnt seen before with most from new members. From a nice NSX to Linzi’s stock 08 5 door hatchback… all cars are welcome at mimms!
