Drift What Ya Brung 24/10/2009

Yesterday was a wet one! After arriving at Santa Pod for the (always) popular DWYB day yesterday, I realised that getting good shots was going to be tricky… It was wet, it was overcast, it was windy – which meant that I didn’t hold out too much hope! Here is the 1st batch of photos that I have edited already, and I have more to come that will be added later in the week. Click any of the photos or here to see the rest of batch one.

Feel free to leave a comment below, or contact me via Driftworks.

Japshow Finale 04/10/09 – Part Three

After spending a couple of hours last night editing the rest of my drift photos from Sunday, I figured I needed to post them up so that those who were driving can have some shots of their hard work! I don’t think I missed anyone who was drifting so check out the full set if your car isn’t on this post.

As always, click any of the photos above to see the rest of the Japshow Finale drifting photos.

After setting up on the Honda Culture stand it was time to take a little wander around the show, unfortunately I only got as far as the drift track before getting distracted for a couple of hours! I took around 1800 photos before realising that I needed to get on and meet people that I had promised to meet up with…

The limited space during such a big show as Japshow Finale meant that the drift track was a lot smaller than on most DWYB days but Lex and the organisers had done a great job of making the most of the space available with a nice long sweeping left hander allowing the drifters to get up to reasonable speeds and smoking the hell out of the crowds that had gathered as close as the fences allowed them to. The tight and technical end to the lap allowed decent transitions to show off the higher level of drivers that were present.

With passenger rides available to the public for just £10, it seemed like an endless stream of fans were given an awesome memory by the drivers who ensured they got the most out of their money! The drivers selected for the demo were mainly those who often attend the regular Santa Pod DWYB days and they all seemed to be having a good time showing off their skills.

I hope to have more of the photos I took up later today or tomorrow but for the time being check out the 1st 40 or so by clicking here or on any of the photos in the post.

Yesterday was another great day! Up early to meet up with the Honda Culture boys to get my stand pass for Santa Pod, I thought I was running a tad late but it turned out I was one of the 1st to arrive – which meant a perfect opportunity to snap a few shots of the HC cars arriving!

As usual, everyone that was on the Honda Culture stand had put the hours in prepping their cars and making sure that the stand was going to be the best Honda stand at the show. And it was… but a long way (but more on that in part 2)!

Tegboys EK9

Tegboy's EK9

Even though I was sure I was going to arrive last at our meeting spot, I was there for a good hour and a bit before we all left for Santa Pod. During this time I had a good chat with everyone there including James (Tegboy) about his recent (and damn good) feature in Banzai Magazine. I photographed his car just before it was put back on the road (click here to see more photos). As usual this EK9 drew the crowds and I am still yet to hear a single bad word about it.

Sundips VIP Accord

Sundip's VIP Accord

As usual Sundip’s accord was looking clean as hell as it rolled up to the meeting point…. This car is really starting to get a lot of love that it deserves with a lot of American forums linking to the photos I have posted of it previously.

After everyone had arrived and stand passed had been handed out we all convoyed to Santa Pod and set up the stand in order to show the cars off best. This took a bit of shimmying and moving juggling cars around a bit but in the end the stand looked hot (best at the show?) and those perfectionists could set about polishing their cars a little more. I preferred to wander round taking photos!

Final prepping!

After a short break away, Wallpaper Wednesday returns with 2 new full size photos for you to use as wallpaper at home!

This shot is from a recent DWYB day at Santa Pod – where the driver of this Sil80 had just clipped the cone trying to get as close as possible…

The next shot is one of my favourites from this years JAE – a simple shot showing the shadow of a decal on the drivers seat of this owners EP3 Civic Type R.

As always, click the photos for the full size version.

DWYB 19/08/2009 Photos – Set 2

***Please note that TweakCulture has moved! Please click here to view this post on the new server***

I just uploaded the 2nd batch of photos from yesterday’s Drift What Ya Brung day at Santa Pod here in Northamptonshire.

Yesterday was a great day for those looking for seat time on the EDC track, with almost no queuing all day long and at most just a couple of cars waiting for a few minutes – the only delay was when a S14 clipped the concrete barrier and the track was closed until the for lift arrived to re-position the barrier (which was only about 15 minutes).

I actually ended up taking over 800 photos so have plenty to keep uploading over the next week or so, if you are looking for shots of a specific car feel free to PM me on DriftWorks or leave a comment here – I was mainly shooting the EDC track but did get a few of the pens.

Back to being on time with my wallpaper photos this week!

This week’s wallpaper shots come from Sunday’s EPIC South Mimms Honda meet, with the 1st shot being DN & Matt from Honda Culture’s EK4 Civics which were parked side by side showing the HC love!

The second wallpaper offering is Anton’s gorgeous Milano EP3… fitted with some sweet goodies including a JRSC kit, Gruppe M intake and Morfspeed cam cover :D

As always, click the images for the full resolution photos and if you want to request a particular image for next weeks Wallpaper Wednesday, do so via the comments on this blog!

South Mimms Honda meet 09/08/2009 was EPIC!

***Please note that TweakCulture has moved! Please click here to view this post on the new server***

Just before leaving home to attend a Civiclife staff meet before the regular Honda meet began, I saw that the number of attendees was up to over 140 on CL alone. I reckon the actual number of Honda’s was over 200 and filled the whole corner of the South Mimms car park. With the superbly high turnout you would expect a few great cars but in truth there were tons!

Meeting up with the regular Mimms attendees was superb with the Honda Culture crew showing some of the fresh Honda’s that they are known for and those crazy Northern bastards who take on the epic trip down South for this meet every time! It was good to see some people bringing their kids to the meet and letting them get their 1st experiences of a truly laid back meet.

Car of the show for me was Welz’s clean EF, and to be honest it seemed that almost everyone who I spoke to seemed to agree! If you want more info on this car check out the build up thread on CivicLife here.

As always, click the images above to see the rest of the photos taken by me yesterday or click here. I have more photos to edit but to be honest I wasnt feeling the photography yesterday – was more in the mood to chat to people than be anti social and go into snappy mode!
