DWYB days are mixed for me – I love them because I get to watch awesome drifting/cars up close, but at the same time they drive me mad because I want to be drifting myself instead of watching!
Despite a later than usual start to the day for me, I was still at Santa Pod with plenty of drifting left for the day. After signing on I headed to the top (EDC 08 Spec) track and straight away got snapping…

The variety of cars today was great, with the usual array of Nissan S bodies, MX5′s, BMW’s, Mercedes’, a Sierra, Impreza, AE86, Vauxhall Carlton/Senator (couldnt tell as it was in tramp mode with no front bumper/grille – plus I no NOTHING about Vauxhalls!).

As the day panned out, it was good to see the level of drifting improve (as always) and that those that were struggling in the morning managed to iron out the problems and get smokey in the afternoon. This was literally true for Ghostie (I think) in the BMW 5 series he was running for the day which seemed to be a bit harder to get sideways that the S14 that I have photographed many times before. He also suffered a small fire on the way off the top track, but thanks to the quick thinking of one of the marshalls (who stopped a car on another track that he knew had an extinguisher on board) the damage was minimal and the Beemer was back on the top track shortly later!

All in all it seemed that most drivers had a great time, and I’m hoping that next time I’ll be driving as well – assuming my EM1 Civic sells!
As always, click any of the photos above to see the full set of photos (#1 of 3) and the next set will be posted in a day or so. If you would like a high res version of any of the photos in this set, drop me a PM on Driftworks, email me at the usual address or leave a comment below and it could be released as wallpaper!
